FAQ after Embryo Transfer

IVF FAQ following embryo transferListed below is our IVF FAQ, featuring answers to some of the most frequent questions regarding post embryo transfer activities.

Please continue to take your Progesterone medication, unless advised otherwise.
If you experience bleeding, please contact our Nursing team as soon as possible.

Can I take any medications?

Medications should only be taken if medically indicated. If you are about to commence any medications, please notify our Fertility Specialist.
If antibiotics are required, there is a clear preference for an antibiotic which is safe to use during pregnancy.

Can I play sports after embryo transfer?

Following a thaw cycle, you may continue with your normal sporting activities. If you have had a recent egg collection, your ovaries may be tender and swollen therefore you are advised to limit activity to gentle exercise.

Can I drink alcohol or caffeine?

We suggest to minimise alcohol and caffeine intake throughout treatment and to avoid smoking at all times.

Can I have a bath after embryo transfer?

Yes, you may have a warm bath following an embryo transfer.

Can we have sex today?

There is no evidence to suggest that intercourse interferes with implantation. Having sex on day of embryo transfer is your personal choice.
